The Gearagh – Lee Valley – a few kilometers long, So-called wooden river and nature reserve, located in County Cork, near the city of Macroom.

This area was flooded in 1954 to allow the construction of two hydro-electric Carrigadrahoid and Inniscarra dams, which of course provides the energy to the city of Cork.

The reserve is covered by international protection, which includes numerous birds, plants and fish.

Some trees have been growing here even since the Middle Ages, they are the last remnants of the ash and oak forest that once lived here.

A beautiful place for a Sunday walk with the whole family.
