Glencar Waterfall – located near the lake of the same name, 11 kilometers west of Manorhamilton in County Leitrim.

The waterfall itself is a little over 15 meters, but it is very spectacular, even more so after fresh rain fall.

You will be able to locate a viewing point after a really short walk through the forest. It is located a few minutes from another well-known waterfall  Devils Chimney ,which we wrote about it at https://www.eirego.com/devils-chimney/

There are more waterfalls located around the area but these two are certainly the most spectacular.

Glencar waterfall served as an inspiration for William Butler Yeats in the poem “Stolen Child”

… “Where the waterfall falls

From the green mountains above Gen. Car

In a small pond in the middle of the night

What reflects the stellar heat “…

A really nice place for a Sunday walk with your family.

Admission is of course free as well as parking.
